Today's fifth annual All About Downtown Festival is a smash success and is being attended by swarms of people packing the streets and enjoying the sunshine, live music, food and all manner of merchandise vendors.
"It's a tremendous success," Downtown Councilwoman Candice Osborne yelled back as she rushed down Newark Avenue to hear a friend playing live music at the festival.
Running from the Grove Street PATH Station Plaza and up to Jersey Avenue, the festival features scores of tent selling items including beer, pizza, fruit drink, jewelry, furniture, Italian sausage, deserts and specialized food trucks.
There are about 10 food trucks serving up unique plates, like Nuchas with their sweet and savory empanadas, Korilla's Korean food with a Mexican twist, and unique varieties of kettle corn from Brooklyn Popcorn.
There were two venues for life music and all the shops along the avenue also had their doors open for business and many put tables on the sidewalk.
The event is organized by the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District.
